The Silver Threads Series
Eleanor Rowland has been creating paintings for a number of years. Working on location and in her studio, she draws on her sensory experiences both immediate and remembered, to communicate a sense of place in her landscapes. She works primarily with watermedia, experimenting with various water soluble products and exploring different surfaces to find a result that will enrich the process and improve the quality of the painting. Recently she has been working on Oriental rice paper laminated to a metallic base. The random silk threads in the transparent rice paper add heightened color and texture to the surface, creating a luminescent quality radiating from the painting.
All of the work displayed on this website are originals, created and executed by the artist, Eleanor K. Rowland. The pieces are painted with professional quality mixed water media, consisting of acrylic, gouache, transparent watercolor, water soluble pencils and water soluble sticks, on a rare, elegant surface consisting of Japanese rice paper laminated to a metallic base. The combination is conservation quality and will maintain the quality indefinitely.
All original paintings will be shipped complete with double conservation mattings, a select frame of 1.5 to 2 inches (for the larger), chosen with gold and silver patterns to complement the painting. All paintings are protected with Acrylic plexiglass.
